August Wrap Up & September TBR

Hi everyone!

In future months I promise I will try my best to actually post these on the 1st/2nd of each month, not a week into the month like this month and last month, haha!

August Wrap Up:
- Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

So as you can see, I did not do too well in August! I wasn't very busy at the beginning of the month, which is when I began and completed Mini Shopaholic, but towards the end of the month I became so busy and unfortunately I just didn't have time to read :(. Let's go onto my September TBR, because this month was a complete fail, haha!

September TBR:
- One Day by David Nicholls

Okay, so I know this isn't a very big TBR at all! But I go back to university on the 11th, and although I don't actually begin lectures until 25th September, I will be busy settling back into university life and catching up with friends from university that I haven't seen all summer. However, if I do manage to complete One Day, I do plan to go onto start reading Shopaholic To The Stars by Sophie Kinsella (which means I would have completed all of the Shopaholic series!), however I'm not putting that into my TBR as I am not sure I will have time to get started on it and I don't like to rush reading books just to complete my month's TBR list!

I am really sorry that this month's reading has been such an epic fail and I didn't have much to update you with, but I wanted to write a blog post to update you on what I managed to read anyway!

I promise my next post will be more worthwhile to read & it will be on a topic that I haven't posted about on my blog yet, so keep your eyes open for that :).

I'd love to know what you managed to read during August and what your September TBR list includes (let's hope you've had a better reading month than I have, haha!).

Bye for now,

Cheryl's Trust

Hi everyone!

So this is my first blog post that isn't book related!

In this post I'm going to be talking a bit about a charitable trust which I don't feel has the recognition it deserves. This is Cheryl's Trust. This is a trust that has been set up by X-Factor judge and Girls Aloud member, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. In 2011, Cheryl teamed up with the young people's charity, The Prince's Trust, with her aim being to improve the support that is available to young people in order for them to turn their lives around and succeed in life, with the idea to begin her work within the North East of England, which is where Cheryl grew up. Cheryl has committed to set up a centre which will be a place vulnerable young people in this region can visit if they are struggling with a variety of situations. The most recent bid to fund-raise for her trust includes Cheryl collaborating with Greggs to bring out a new chocolate bar, 'Belgian Chocolate Crunch' which will be sold in stores from 8th September 2015 for eight weeks, and 5p from every bar will go towards Cheryl's Trust. *

Classing myself as one of Cheryl's 'soldiers' and being a huge fan of Cheryl, I obviously completely support this trust, however if I was not a fan of Cheryl, I would still 100% be in support of this. Personally, I believe that this trust will change so many lives of young people in order to help make the current and future generations more successful and able to achieve their potential. The only place I tend to see this trust being advertised is mainly by Cheryl and Cheryl's soldier's themselves, and this is the reason I've given you all a little more information about the trust, because so many more people need to be informed about this!

Despite me feeling like this trust does not get enough recognition, I do feel like the people who do support this trust, especially Cheryl's soldier's, show a huge amount of support to Cheryl and her trust!! I know for a fact that Cheryl realises how much her soldier's support her, but I just wanted to highlight one twitter account which I know about in particular. Their username on twitter is @CherylsTrust. Recently, their latest sign of support to her trust was creating a lyric video. This video was created by the person who runs and originally set up the twitter account in support for Cheryl's Trust. One of Cheryl's soldier's, @ChloeHOfficial, wrote and sang the song, and other soldier's (including myself) created pictures that included a line of the song each, these elements were then all put together to create the video. It would brilliant if you could all check out the video which I have inserted below, as the people involved put a lot of effort into creating it :).

I thought I'd add in the picture of the lyric that I created and
that was used within the lyric video, in case anyone was interested
in which lyric was the one that I made :).

That is all for today's blog post. I'm sorry about it containing a lot of information, I just feel like I needed to write all of this to help create more recognition for this wonderful and worthwhile trust!*

I hope you all give even a couple of minutes to check out the work this trust does and find out more information about it! I'd love it if you comment down below and tell me if you do :).

Bye for now,

Book Review: Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

Hi everyone!

As you can probably tell from the title, this blog post is a Book Review on the book Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. I hope you enjoy it :).

Firstly, I’ll start with giving you a brief overview of what the book is about (I’ve tried to make this as spoiler free as possible, but I’m sorry if I’ve accidentally given away too many details for your liking!):

The story is set during 1999-2000, when the internet and emailing was relatively new to many companies in America. It is narrated by a man named Lincoln, who works nights at a Newspaper company, where his job is to monitor emails which are flagged up (for swearing, inappropriate words, or generally talking about things other than work!). The book follows Lincoln as he gets to know two girls, Beth and Jennifer, through their emails to each other, and it shows how Lincoln deals with the fact that he wants to get to know them both more, but can’t due to the fact that he would have to tell them he had been reading their private emails (as it’s technically his job!). The story also follows Lincoln in his life outside of his job too, which shows him grow and shows great character development throughout the book.

I absolutely love this book! It is not very realistic, but it is so funny and the characters are so lovable, that I just couldn’t help liking this book as much as I did. At some points in the book it literally had me laughing out loud (which became at little awkward at one point when I reading this book on a train, haha). I really enjoyed reading the book and following the story through Lincoln’s narrating and through the emails between Beth and Jennifer, I definitely feel that Rainbow Rowell integrated these two contrasting ways of story-telling brilliantly!

The only part of this book that disappointed me a bit was that the ending seemed rushed, and for some reason the ending also felt too unrealistic for me (which is strange, because as I mentioned earlier, the whole of this story is pretty unrealistic, and I’m not usually bothered about whether a book has a realistic storyline or not?!). But apart from that one point, I cannot find fault with this book at all!

If you are a lover of Contemporary books or you want to begin reading Contemporary books, then definitely read this book as it’s such a light, fun and easy read! This is the second book I have read by Rainbow Rowell, and I will definitely be reading the rest of her books.

If you have read this book then I'd love to hear your opinions by commenting on this blog post. I always find it interesting to see people's views on books, despite whether they are different or the same as mine. Also, if you read this book based on my book review, then I really hope you enjoy it!

August TBR

Hi everyone!

I thought I'd kick off my blog with a good ol' TBR. I know we are a week into August already, but I will give you a quick update with what I have read so far and what I plan to read in the rest of August. So, here is my August TBR:

  • Attachments by Rainbow Rowell  - I started reading Attachments on 27th July, so I'm not sure if this should be counted in my August TBR? But I finished it on 5th August, so I thought I'd pop this in here!
  • Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella - I started reading this on 5th August and I'm currently about 50 pages into the book.
  • One Day by David Nicholls
I'm not a very fast reader which is why my TBR list is not very long at all. It usually takes me about a week to read one book, so I only ever read 3-4 books per month, and I read even less when I'm at university or in a reading slump! But hopefully I'll get through these books on my TBR, I'll do an update in the blog post at the end of the month to let you all know how I get on (if you're interested that is? haha!).

I'm thinking about writing a book review soon on Attachments or, a book I previously finished during July, which is The Understudy by David Nicholls. I'd love to know which book you would prefer to read a book review on as I can't decide!

Thanks for reading, and I promise my next blog post will have more content in for you! I just thought I'd make my blog post an easy read for everyone and an easy post for me to write, just to ease myself into my blog :).

Comment down believe what is on your August TBR if you wish, as I'd love to see what you are planning to read each month!

Bye for now,
